Don't miss the second week of Chino's First Territorial Capital Days - we have three more days of fun coming up this weekend. This year again the celebration was spread out on two weekends.

Proposition 203, the initiative to legalize medical marijuana in the state of Arizona, is not a homegrown initiative.

Letter: Semlich didn't blame Obama for this shoot-out
I was shocked to see Charlie's weekly "illustration" did not blame the motorcycle club skirmish on President Obama! Charlie, you're letting your fans down. Maybe you fell off the "super secret" memo distribution list you referenced a couple of weeks ago.

Letter: Library's reading room dedicated to lost son

Editorial: Shoot-out! Let's watch
News traveled fast about the gang-related shootings in Chino Valley Saturday. The shots alone brought people out of their homes. Others drove to see what was going on when they saw patrol car after patrol car speed past their neighborhoods.

Volunteer at food bank lacked

kindness

Editor:

I had gone to Chino Valley Food Bank and as I was standing at the counter, the lady came from the back and asked if I would like a veggie tray, that I could go to the back to get my produce.

Viewpoint: A shame to shoot 'unarmed' dog
I read the article about Doc being shot by a deputy! It seems clear from the article that the deputy did not use good judgment.

S.E.L.F. Club, uninhibited and free this summer

Editor:

Our eight-week S.E.L.F. Club has ended and I wanted to thank everyone that helped make this year so successful.

First, our partners in the community: Dean Smith and his staff at the pool who helped individuals be free and uninhibited by their disabilities, Ms. Darlene Westcott at the Children's Library for the entertainment, and the CVUSD Food Service for providing lunch.

Editorial: Guard our school children
Every year, we use this space to remind readers who drive to be mindful of children on their way to school. They could be on the sides of the roads waiting for the bus. Or they could be walking or riding a bicycle to school.

Viewpoint: Graybill: 'Chino Valley may find itself on an episode of American Greed
Recently again on the nightly news the report is five to seven years of economic recovery is a reality. The front page of a recent Review reads "Yavapai County fifth in foreclosures of Arizona's counties." The results are harsh and clear when all investments are made is real estate alone. For a municipality maintaining the health and vitality of its community, this is an issue of great importance.

Letters to Editor: Chino Valley should rename itself 'Weed Town'
Chino Valley should rename itself 'Weed Town'

Editor:

I attended the town hall meeting recently at the new facility for the first time. It's a nice facility. Our mayor, Jim Bunker and Councilmember Gloria Moore showed their true colors at the meeting.

They have "no respect" for their employers - the citizens of Chino Valley.

Editorial: Immigration! Buy a ticket
One of the more clearly stated analogies circulating throught the Internet about Arizona's new immigation law is a simple one. Because we can't confirm the author, we won't quote it directly.

Editorial: The good life
Not all towns are created equal. We select the things about a community that are important to us. These reasons vary, depending on our lifestyle choices.

Editorial: Weeds an economy aftereffect
Maybe no one wants to look at the Highway 89 weed problem as yet another aftereffect of the poor economy of our country, states, cities and towns. Slow economies mean fewer road crew members doing the same amount of work.

We have it so good in this country - we keep our highways and byways relatively clean and attractive - especially when you start comparing to less fortunate countries whose "road landscaping" either doesn't exist or is pretty far down the "To Do" list. We get so accustomed to things looking a certain way, and when it's altered for one reason or another, we notice. And then we squawk.
