Video: A lot to be thankful for
Folks had their tummies filled at the Word of Life church's "Dinner at Our House" community Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 24. But they also had their hearts filled, too, as several told of how much it meant to them to have a place to go for a meal with other people and to see many of their friends at holiday time. One widow came alone but wasn't alone once she arrived and saw old friends and made some new ones. Two ladies brought their new neighbor to the dinner, and all three enjoyed the time and the meal. Each one expressed now thankful they were to the church members for their efforts. About 1,000 people attended this year's free dinner, the 7th dinner in the past six Thanksgivings.

Video:Mimicking Life
Spellbound as the mime quietly and expressively entered the room, children at the Chino Valley Children's Library mime performance were the quietest they've ever been at one of the library's summer reading program's presentations. Mime Nancy Lemar Roberts, a performer and teacher from Sedona, acted out scenes of playing basketball, swimming, gardening and removing a globe from a large plastic bag. With face of white make-up, Nancy's 20- minute performance was done, of course, with no words, but the children mostly figured out what she was doing, as whispers confirmed, "She's swimming."
