Man allegedly stabs friend in face and neck after drinking session

A man is in jail on charges of attempted second-degree murder and an unidentified male victim is in the intensive care unit of a Phoenix hospital after an alleged fight involving a knife early Saturday at a mobile home park, a Chino Valley Police Department spokesman said.

When officers arrived, they found a 42-year-old man with lacerations to his face and neck at the home of the suspect, Chino Valley resident Hershell Roy Scott Jr., 44. Two women were also at the home.

Witnesses told police that the group was hanging out at the residence and consuming alcohol after meeting at a local bar.

Statements from witnesses indicated that Scott's alleged attack on the victim was unprovoked. The victim's injuries were caused by a sharp object, which was later recovered when police obtained a warrant to search the home.

After treatment by Chino Valley Fire Department and Life Line Ambulance medics, the victim was taken to Prescott and then flown to a Phoenix hospital where he underwent surgery.

Police said all parties involved had consumed high levels of alcohol before the incident occurred. Scott was booked into the Yavapai County jail in Camp Verde, police said.
