Special to t he Review

In May of this year, the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office began offering an opportunity for citizens to buy and receive motor vehicle accident reports online.

Access to this online system begins at the Sheriff's Office website, www.ycsoaz.gov. On the left-hand side of the page look under the Public Information tab and click over the "Request for Reports" link. A new page will open and when the viewer scrolls down mid-way, the "Yavapai Sheriff's Office Accident Report Database" link will take the viewer to the report ordering page.

The cost for each report is $5 for the first 10 pages of the report. An additional cost of 50 cents per page will be charged after the first 10 pages. Only traffic accident reports are available on this system.

Users may search for reports by file number, report date, last name, or location. Once the report is located, click on the file number to buy by credit card and the report will be accessible for printing. People may also have a copy sent to their selected email address at no additional cost. If the search does not reveal a known accident report, it is because the report has not been completed or approved.

The vendor for this new system is PoliceReports.US who provides the technology at no charge to the county. The company takes a portion of the user fee, which covers the cost to maintain and run the system.

For more information, contact the Yavapai County Sheriff's at 771-3260.
