1. A Chino Valley school bus crashed on June 1 on Highway 89 north of town; the driver suffered minor injuries and the students had a few bruises and scrapes and generally shook up.

2. The Town of Chino Valley and the Chino Valley School District both experienced budget cutbacks this past year, that included going to four-day school weeks and work weeks, along with operating budget cuts.

On April 5, Neil Havens Rodreick II received a prison sentence of 70.5 years in Yavapai County Superior Court for disguising himself as a middle school student to register at Mingus Springs Charter School, whose staff alerted police of their concerns. The judge also sentenced two other men involved in the crime.

9. The Town Council voted to approve the 170-acre 55+ JC Ranch retirement village at Windmill Farms in Chino Valley. The Planning and Zoning Commission had earlier recommended denial of the project.
