Carriage driving clinic at Paulden course
Emphasis on beginners
Special to the Review

People interested in learning about horse and carriage driving or who are beginning driving can attend a free day-long clinic at 9 a,m. on Sat., Nov. 7 in Paulden.  The clinic will be at the home of Peter and Mary Jane Atonna, where they have a course.

Two area driving experts and clinicians, Allen Funderburgh and Gary Gang, will talk about the sport and then demonstrate harnessing, carriages, safety and the basics of driving.

People are welcome to watch or to bring their horse and carriage to have them checked and get some hands-on training from the clinicians.  In the afternoon, Allen and Gary will work with people who would like to practice dressage, cones and hazards.

The clinic is free, but membership in the Arizona Driving and Carriage Society is required. Application forms will be available at the event.  Membership costs $25 per family per year.  ADCS members are also welcome to participate in a pleasure driving day the next day.

For directions to the Atonnas' home, call 636-4228 or email mjatonna@commspeed.net.
